Parliament Clears Two Cabinet Picks for Top Roles

Parliament gave the green light to two cabinet picks, moving them closer to taking top government posts. The appointments committee approved Geoffrey K. Kiringa Ruku for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programs. They also backed Hanna Wendot Cheptumo for Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage. National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula signed the report confirming these decisions. The recommendations followed constitutional requirements and parliamentary rules.

Ruku brings political experience from his time as a Member of Parliament. He will lead efforts to improve government services and develop national talent strategies. His role comes as the administration pushes to make public offices work better. Cheptumo has advocated for women's rights and cultural protection throughout her career. Her department will focus on gender equality and supporting Kenya's arts sector.

The Speaker finalized the report on April 15, 2025. The National Assembly officially received these recommendations the same day. These picks form part of President William Ruto's cabinet changes aimed at better service delivery. The approval process included public input and background checks on each candidate. Both nominees can start their jobs after taking their oaths of office.
