Parliament Session Postponed for Geingob Anniversary

Parliament Delays Opening, Marks Geingob's Death Anniversary.

Namibia's parliament has postponed its first sitting to February 5, shifting from its original schedule to honor the first anniversary of former president Hage Geingob's passing.

Geingob died from cancer on February 4, 2024. Parliamentary senior spokesperson Sacky Kadhikwa issued an apology for any disruption caused by the schedule change.

The parliament has not planned specific memorial events for the day, Kadhikwa said. A new book about the late president, titled "Whispers of Freedom," will launch on February 6.
