Swapo Honors Geingob's Legacy at First Death Anniversary.
Swapo Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa praised former president Hage Geingob for his service to Namibia. She spoke at memorial events held Tuesday at Heroes' Acre and State House.
"President Geingob showed us true leadership," Shaningwa said. His work helped build unity and fairness across the nation.
The late president left a strong mark on Namibia's path to democracy, she noted. His efforts helped create peace between all groups in the country.
"He lived by 'One Namibia, One Nation,'" Shaningwa said. She pointed to his focus on bringing people together.
The ruling party chief said Geingob's ideas still guide the country. One year after his death, his dream of a united Namibia remains alive.
