Police arrested Pastor Desmond Parirehwa, the 38-year-old founder of Deliverance and Solutions Church, for allegedly stealing a property worth $25,000 from an elderly woman. The authorities charged him after he reportedly took advantage of her trust.
Elizabeth Fadhuka, age 79, had given Parirehwa her residential stand documents to keep her safe during her medical trip abroad. She instructed him to pass these papers to her family members if needed. Their relationship began in 2010 when Parirehwa offered counseling to Ms. Fadhuka as she mourned the death of her two sons.
Ms. Fadhuka became sick in 2012 and planned to travel to the United Kingdom for medical care. Before leaving, she entrusted Parirehwa with important papers for her Mzari property. Years later, in 2018, her daughter Misitia Marsh asked Parirehwa to hand over these documents, but he repeatedly avoided doing so.
The pastor moved onto the stand in 2020 and built structures without permission from Ms. Fadhuka. He even registered the property under his name. When attempts to recover the stand failed, the family reported the matter to police, leading to his arrest. The court granted Parirehwa $200 bail and scheduled his next hearing for March 13.
