Persad-Bissessar begs the US to nuke cartel boats

Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, endorsing American military operations throughout the southern Caribbean region. The leader declared these forces effectively combat drug trafficking organizations operating within her nation's borders. Caribbean territories no longer represent peaceful sanctuaries immune from violent criminal enterprises, she stated.

Persad-Bissessar presented alarming crime statistics, demonstrating the scope of the crisis. Trinidad and Tobago recorded 623 homicides during 2024 among its 1.4 million residents, establishing a rate of 41 deaths per 100,000 people. Gang violence accounted for more than 40 percent of these killings, driven by the narcotics trade and firearms trafficking.

The prime minister backed recent American border enforcement measures, arguing they appropriately address trafficking networks and human smuggling operations. She endorsed the international security alliance involving multiple South American nations to combat regional drug cartels.
