Pilirani Buleya Fights Hunger, Gender Bias, and Political Hurdles for Lilongwe Nkhoma

Pilirani Buleya fights hunger and politics at the same time. The brave woman wants to represent Lilongwe Nkhoma Constituency as their Member of Parliament. She started her political dreams back during primary school when leadership called her name. Her village desperately needed food and she decided to take action. Buleya gave seeds and fertilizer to villagers who worked the land together.

The smart politician waited until hunger season hit hardest before sharing the harvest. Twelve bags of maize saved families from starvation during January and February. Other villages heard about her success and begged her to help them next. Community members started asking Buleya to become their political leader. Her farming project proved she could deliver real results for struggling people.

Eight candidates originally wanted the parliamentary seat but only three remain standing. Buleya stands as the last woman fighting against two male opponents. Money problems make her campaign extremely difficult to run properly. She refuses to make promises that she cannot keep to voters. Transport challenges stop her from reaching remote parts of her constituency.

The determined candidate needs vehicles to visit some areas and bicycles for others. Campaign materials like shirts and posters would help spread her message faster. Buleya encourages other women to stay brave and believe in themselves. She thinks female leaders can beat male competitors if they work hard enough. Her message focuses on replacing politicians who already failed the community.
