PMAN suspends president over governance violations

PMAN just suspended its own president. The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria removed National President Pretty Okafor following an emergency council meeting. The National Executive Council cited governance issues, constitutional violations, and abuse of office. FCT Chapter Governor Sydney Sparrow will act as interim president. The suspension is immediate, pending a full investigation.

The council listed several major grievances. They accused Okafor of unilaterally appointing vice presidents without approval. They also condemned the removal of the elected National Treasurer after that treasurer questioned the association's accounts. The NEC cited a failure to organize major events like the PMAN Awards or implement welfare programs. Okafor's leadership was described as intolerant, stifling dissent, and creating a hostile environment.

A controversial property deal in Abuja drew serious scrutiny. The agreement reportedly gives a developer sixty percent, PMAN thirty percent, and an unexplained ten percent to an unknown company, raising red flags about transparency. The council's resolutions nullified all unilateral appointments, reinstated the National Treasurer, and ordered a forensic audit. They stressed the move was a corrective action to restore proper governance for Nigerian musicians.
