A significant 160 million euro expressway project connecting Pozeški Brestovac to the Godinjak junction has been launched, aiming to end Požega's long-standing traffic isolation. The Croatian Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković, described the undertaking as a major project for national road construction. The 14.75-kilometer route, to be built by the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), is considered technically complex due to its inclusion of a tunnel and multiple bridges.
The construction is projected for completion within a 48-month period. According to Ivica Budimir, the board president of Hrvatske Ceste, the demanding route will significantly shorten travel times and improve connections to the A3 motorway. Officials expect the new infrastructure to enhance traffic safety and stimulate economic development in the Požega-Slavonia County region.
