Police officers caught two men carrying drugs near a busy road junction in Ondo State. The suspects came from Kaduna State and had 51 large bags of dried plants that looked like marijuana. Officers found Usman Muhammad who is just 17 years old and Uwhile Bashir who is 27 during the arrest. Each bag weighed about 9 kilograms according to police reports.
Special police teams made the arrest on Wednesday morning around 10 o'clock. They acted on good information from people who knew about the drug dealing. The operation happened at Ikare Junction which sits along a main road in Owo town. Police spokesman SP Ayanlade Olayinka told reporters about the successful drug bust.
The arrests follow orders from top police chiefs who want to stop drug trafficking across Nigeria. Officers focus on finding people who fund criminal groups and sell illegal drugs. These activities fuel gang violence and other crimes that hurt communities. Police seized all the suspicious bags as evidence for their case.
Both suspects remain locked up as detectives work to find other people involved. Officers want to break up the entire criminal network that moves these drugs around the country. The investigation continues as police try to trace where the drugs came from and where they were going.
