Police Locate Theft Suspect After Social Media Claims

Alright, here's the gist of what's going down. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is pushing back against some chatter that's been making the rounds on social media. Apparently, folks have been saying that Vongai Nadia Mabvirakure was kidnapped or vanished into thin air. But according to the ZRP, that's just not true. They're saying the info being passed around is misleading and doesn't paint the real picture.

Here's the deal: The ZRP says Mabvirakure is actually a suspect in a theft case. The case falls under Section 113 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23. Tichabaiwa Gwadu, who works for the Matiza Foundation, reported the whole thing.

From what they've dug up, it seems like back in September 2024, Mabvirakure's company, Green Rebirth Trust, decided to team up with Matiza Foundation. The plan was to build a greenhouse or shed net at Chomupunga Business Centre in Murewa. Mabvirakure got her hands on $15,200 in cold, hard cash to buy all the building materials she listed in her quote.

But here's where things start to smell fishy. Instead of paying Brickforce Hardware in Murewa directly, she allegedly pocketed the money for herself. Then, she went ahead and got the materials she needed on credit, using the Matiza Foundation's name. She made it seem like they had a different payment setup. The cat was out of the bag when Brickforce Hardware came knocking on Matiza Foundation's door, asking for their money. That's when the Matiza Foundation decided to take the matter to ZRP Murewa.

Fast forward to March 5, 2025. Officers from CID Murewa swung by Mabvirakure's place in Chitungwiza, hoping to track her down. But according to her son, Patrick Mabvirakure, she wasn't home.

The latest update from the ZRP is that they've found Mabvirakure. She's currently in the hospital, but a police escort is watching over her. The theft case and the claims her family made are still being investigated.

The police want everyone to stick to the facts and not get carried away with all the speculation and rumors flying around on social media. They're saying, "Just hold your horses and wait for the verified info, folks!"
