Opposition candidate Robert Kyagulanyi campaigned in Namayingo and Bugiri on Saturday after police prevented his National Unity Platform rally in Iganga Municipality. The politician accused security forces and the Electoral Commission of bias against his 2026 presidential campaign. Kyagulanyi said authorities blocked roads to Iganga despite allowing other candidates to campaign there.
Police spokesperson Diana Nandawula said the convoy deviated from approved routes and created security risks. She stated officers directed the group toward Namungale Grounds where clearance existed. Kyagulanyi pledged to continue peaceful campaigning despite what he called deliberate harassment by authorities.
