President Museveni warns UPDF officers against corruption at Kabamba

President Yoweri Museveni warned army officers that corruption endangers both military integrity and battlefield survival during a graduation ceremony at Uganda Military Academy in Kabamba. The president addressed 413 officers who finished six months of armour warfare training in Mubende district. He stressed that corrupt soldiers become enemies of their comrades and the nation. Museveni emphasized the importance of maintaining personal health and caring for military equipment properly. The graduating class mastered tank operations and tactical maneuvers despite the intensive timeframe.

The ceremony celebrated 74 armour platoon commanders, 122 armour technicians, and 217 armour crews who completed specialized courses. Museveni acknowledged that modern warfare combines ancient military principles with contemporary technology and strategic organization. He cautioned graduates that tanks face new dangers from aerial threats like drones and air strikes. The president praised ongoing efforts to modernize the Uganda People's Defence Forces through improved welfare, training, and infrastructure development. Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Sam Okiding announced plans to upgrade fourteen military training centers into centers of excellence.
