PSG president says Ballon d’Or is flawed if Dembele does not win

Paris Saint-Germain's top executive thinks something stinks about the Ballon d'Or voting process. Nasser Al-Khelaifi claims his star player Ousmane Dembele deserves the golden trophy more than anyone else. The French winger scored 33 goals and made 15 assists during an amazing season for his club. Al-Khelaifi told reporters that Dembele accomplished everything possible on the soccer field. He believes the award system has serious flaws if his player loses the competition.

Dembele helped PSG capture their first Champions League crown after years of disappointment. The 28-year-old forward delivered two assists during the 5-0 destruction of Internazionale during the final match. He also scored crucial goals against Liverpool and Arsenal during earlier tournament rounds. PSG completed a historic treble under his leadership and explosive attacking play. The French international feels confident about his chances but stays focused on team success.

Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal presents the biggest challenge to Dembele's award hopes. The 17-year-old sensation racked up 18 goals and 25 assists for the Spanish giants this season. Barcelona captured their domestic treble and reached the Champions League semifinals with Yamal leading the charge. Former Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov supports the young winger for the prestigious honor. Liverpool star Mohamed Salah also competes for the same trophy that celebrates soccer's best individual performer.
