PTAD tightens pension checks, no walk-ins without invite

This pension office, PTAD, has specific days for different groups to get verified at their offices in Abuja or Lagos. People who worked for Customs, Immigration, or the Prisons service, plus those from parastatal organizations, should go on Tuesdays. Civil service retirees are scheduled for Wednesdays. Police and parastatal pensioners have their day on Thursdays.

Because of ongoing health concerns, you cannot just walk in anymore. Everything is by appointment only now. Retirees need to email their paperwork to [email protected] first for an invitation. If you live outside Nigeria, you can get an "I am alive" certificate from your nearest embassy. Send that with your resident permit, passport data page, and career documents to [email protected] or the complaints email. If they approve it, your monthly payments will restart until you can return for an in-person check.

After you are fully verified once, you do not need to keep sending documents for every issue. For future complaints, just provide your verification slip and a six-month bank statement. The main verification process for the defined benefit scheme is officially done. Anyone still needing verification must follow the special steps for a mobile check. Send all required documents, a full-sized photo, contact info, and a doctor's note explaining your travel restrictions. Request a mobile verification, and if your documents are good, a team will be sent to you.
