Rajinikanth mourns classmate Sreenivasan’s exit

Another massive star has shared his grief. Superstar Rajinikanth called the late Malayalam icon Sreenivasan a close friend and former film institute classmate, saying he was shocked by the death. Rajinikanth remembered him as a great actor and an even better person.

The actor and writer passed away at a hospital in Trippunithura, receiving treatment for age-related problems. He was sixty-nine. His nearly five-decade career included about two hundred twenty-five films, where he became famous for playing relatable, flawed characters with authentic humor and sharp social commentary. He is survived by his wife, Vimala, and his sons, filmmakers and actors Vineeth and Dhyan Sreenivasan.

Other tributes poured in online. Actress Aparna Das said she was lucky to start her career with one of his scripts, calling him a grounded legend. Actor Prithviraj bid farewell to one of the greatest writer-director-actors. Oscar winner Resul Pookutty noted the irreplaceable void left by his unique voice and perspective. The overall sentiment points to a profound collective loss for the film industry.
