Ran Mine Back in Action After Slime Dam Fix

RAN Mine started working again in Bindura after cleaning up the environment and making safety changes required by the Environmental Management Agency. Last month, a slime dam at the mine broke open, creating a big mess. Maxwell Mupotsa from EMA said officials met Wednesday and checked if the mine fixed everything properly. The mine can run again because it met all the rules.

The mine had to install better pollution controls, build safety ponds, and switch to an older slime dam located far from where people live. EMA is happy with all the work RAN Mine did to fix the problems. The company promised to keep improving safety and working closely with EMA and emergency teams going forward. They went beyond what was required.

Mine manager Brienie Dzumbunu explained they cleaned up nearby communities and fixed the dam completely. They added drainage channels based on the land shape and made many more improvements until both EMA and local people felt satisfied with the results. The mine started running again Wednesday night after these changes were completed.

The environmental disaster badly hurt the mine. They had to stop working for two whole weeks, which meant they lost about 15 kilograms of gold they could have produced during that time. This shutdown caused major financial damage to the operation, but they can finally move forward with production again after addressing all safety concerns.
