On a sunny Wednesday in Kenya, people saw an unusual thing. Raila Odinga, the leader of the ODM party, came to the Piny Luo Cultural Festival wearing shorts. It was the second day of the fun event.
Mr. Odinga wore green shorts, a white shirt, and a hat. Some important people came, too, like Mama Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior, the Vice President of South Sudan. Two governors also joined in: James Orengo of Siaya and Gladys Wanga of Homa Bay.
The second day featured many exciting activities. There were water sports, wrestling matches, and a game called Tero Buru. Everyone had a great time playing and watching.
The festival started on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Mr. Odinga opened it at Migwena Cultural Grounds in Siaya. The theme is "Luo Unity in Diversity and Diaspora." That means Luo people from all over the world are coming together as one big family.
The fun will keep going until Thursday, January 2, 2025. It's a special time for the Luo community to celebrate their culture and be together.
