Recalled Atkinson, Tongue leave India reeling at the Oval

Fast bowlers Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue spearheaded the attack with impressive figures. Atkinson claimed two wickets for 31 runs while executing a crucial run-out of Indian captain Shubman Gill. Tongue contributed two wickets for 47 runs with exceptional bowling displays. Captain Ollie Pope chose to bowl first after winning the toss under overcast conditions.

India faced early setbacks when Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for two runs and KL Rahul departed for 14. Gill attempted a risky single, but Atkinson's direct throw ended his innings at 21. Sai Sudharsan battled for 38 runs before Tongue dismissed him with a sharp delivery. Karun Nair remained unbeaten on 52 runs alongside Washington Sundar, who scored 19. Chris Woakes sustained a shoulder injury late in the day, potentially ending his participation in this decisive fifth Test match.
