Record Drone Storm Wreaks Havoc on Ukraine

Russia sent the largest number of drones and missiles ever during a night attack against Ukraine. At least 12 people died and dozens suffered injuries during the weekend assault. Three children aged 8, 12, and 17 from the same family lost their lives during the strikes. Ukrainian officials reported damage across more than 30 cities and villages after the massive bombing. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia continues to kill people every day despite calls for peace.

Ukraine's Air Force counted 367 missiles and drones launched during Saturday night attacks. Ukrainian defenders shot down 45 cruise missiles and stopped 266 unmanned aircraft from reaching their targets. The strikes hit 22 different locations across 13 regions of the country. Emergency workers fought 27 fires and found 80 damaged homes after the bombing ended. More than 70 people needed medical treatment for their injuries from the overnight assault.

Both countries completed a major prisoner exchange over the weekend involving 1,000 people from each side. Ukraine and Russia each returned 390 soldiers and civilians during Friday's swap. Another 307 Ukrainian prisoners came home Saturday as part of the deal between the two nations. The exchange followed face-to-face talks between representatives after three years without direct meetings. President Trump spoke with Putin about possible ceasefire agreements, but Russia has not accepted any specific terms.
