Rolls-Royce backs UK-India trade push with Starmer

Rolls-Royce announced on Wednesday that it is participating in industry discussions during UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s first official visit to India following the signing of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. The company stated that its involvement aims to strengthen the economic partnership between the two nations under the India-UK Vision 2035.

Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgic, who is part of Starmer’s business delegation, said the firm plans to develop India as a key market by expanding local capabilities across air, land, and sea sectors. He emphasized support for India’s goals of self-reliance and industrial growth.

Prime Minister Starmer described Rolls-Royce as a symbol of British excellence and welcomed its commitment to India’s development. He said such collaborations promote economic growth and deepen bilateral ties.

According to the company, its broad expertise in civil aviation, defense, and energy aligns with India’s focus on self-reliance, energy security, and advanced connectivity. Starmer arrived in India on Wednesday and is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
