Rugby Africa Cup 2025 to Decide African World Cup Qualifier in Kampala

Rugby Africa announced the complete schedule for the 2025 Rugby Africa Cup tournament. The competition takes place from July 8 through July 19 at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Uganda. This tournament serves as Africa's official pathway to the 2027 Rugby World Cup. The winning team earns an automatic berth at the global championship. Eight nations will compete for the continental title and World Cup qualification.

Quarter final action begins Tuesday, July 8 with four matches scheduled throughout the day. Defending champions Zimbabwe face Morocco at 10 a.m. to open the tournament. Algeria battles Côte d'Ivoire at noon after finishing as runners-up last year. Namibia meets Senegal in the third contest of the opening day. Kenya and host nation Uganda close the first round at 4 p.m.

The four winning teams advance to semifinal matches on Sunday, July 13. Both semifinal games occur during the afternoon with start times at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Teams eliminated during the quarter finals compete earlier that same day for ranking positions. These placement contests determine final tournament standings for all participants.

Saturday, July 19 features the championship finale and all remaining classification matches. The day starts with the seventh place game at 10 a.m. Multiple ranking contests follow throughout the afternoon. The tournament champion receives the trophy and secures Africa's automatic qualification spot for the 2027 Rugby World Cup. This winner will represent the continent at rugby's premier global event.
