Russian Forces Strike Ukraine, Kill 25 in Latest Attack

Russian attacks killed at least 25 people across Ukraine recently. Officials reported 11 deaths plus 40 injuries from missiles hitting Dobropillya town in Donetsk Region. The strikes damaged homes, shops, and key buildings throughout multiple areas, including Kharkiv and Odesa. These attacks happened right after America stopped sharing military help and intelligence with Ukraine following a heated meeting between President Trump and Zelensky last week.

Polish leader Donald Tusk responded by saying, "This happens when someone appeases barbarians. More bombs, more aggression, more victims." President Zelensky claimed Russia deliberately targeted rescue workers who arrived after the initial blasts at Dobropillya. Nine additional people died from other attacks around Donetsk during Friday and Saturday. Three more deaths occurred when drones hit a company building in Bohodukhiv within the Kharkiv Region.

Odesa Energy Systems suffered another drone strike - making it the seventh attack on power infrastructure there within three weeks, according to the DTEK energy company. Ukraine continued fighting back as Russia reported stopping 31 Ukrainian drones overnight. Donald Trump told reporters Friday he found dealing with Ukraine harder than with Russia when trying to make peace between them, saying America was "doing very well with Russia."

Trump mentioned he might create big sanctions against Russia until they agree to stop fighting. The US has already cut off Ukraine from some satellite pictures along with other help. This came exactly one week after Trump yelled at Zelensky during their White House meeting for being "disrespectful." Many Europeans worry they cannot count on American support anymore due to Trump's friendly approach toward Putin. European leaders just approved plans to spend more on defense and keep backing Ukraine. Next week, Trump's special messenger, Steve Witkoff, plans to meet Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia about possible peace talks. Russia started the full invasion back in February 2022 and currently controls about 20% of Ukrainian land.
