Rwanda Bus Crash Leaves 20 Dead in Valley Tumble

A bus crash in Rwanda killed twenty people on Tuesday afternoon. Many others felt pain after the crash. The bus carried more than fifty people through Rwanda's Northern Province when things went wrong. The driver lost control on a sharp turn. The bus rolled down a hill into a deep valley.

The Prime Minister's office said doctors are helping the hurt people at nearby hospitals. The government promised to help everyone affected by the crash. They want to support the families who lost loved ones.

The government asked all drivers to follow the rules of the road. They believe this will stop more people from dying in crashes. The police want roads to be safe. They run a special program called "Gerayo Amahoro," which means "Arrive Safe." They teach people how to use roads safely.

The police shared some good news about road safety. From January to December 2024, fewer people died in road crashes than the year before. The number of deaths dropped by half. Bicycle riders stayed safer as well. The number of crashes involving people on bicycles went down by seventeen out of every hundred crashes.
