SA edge India by 30 at Eden Gardens

South Africa secured their first Test victory in India in 15 years with a 30-run triumph at Eden Gardens, bowling out the hosts for just 93 while defending a modest target of 124. Off-spinner Simon Harmer delivered match-winning figures of 4-21 as the Proteas dismissed India in 35 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The visitors had recovered from their opening-innings total of 159 to post 153 in their second attempt, with captain Temba Bavuma contributing an unbeaten 55.

India struggled without injured opener Shubman Gill, who was hospitalized for neck surgery. Washington Sundar top-scored with 31 while Axar Patel added 26, including two sixes off Keshav Maharaj, before falling to the left-arm spinner. Harmer trapped Dhruv Jurel, stand-in captain Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja among his victims, while Maharaj claimed the final two wickets on consecutive deliveries to seal the upset.
