Saint Lucia sets general election for December 1, 2025

Saint Lucia will hold general elections on Monday, December 1, following Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre's announcement that Parliament would dissolve on Monday, November 10. Pierre revealed during a Sunday evening address that he had advised the Governor General to issue writs of election, with candidate nominations scheduled for Friday, November 21.

The Saint Lucia Labour Party, which secured office in July 2021, faces a challenge from the United Workers Party under former Prime Minister Allen Chastanet. Campaign discussions are expected to focus on economic conditions, crime rates, employment opportunities for young people, and infrastructure priorities. The opposition has criticized government responses to security concerns and inflation, while the administration maintains it has managed global economic pressures effectively.

Political observers anticipate a highly competitive race as both major parties prepare to launch full campaign operations following the parliamentary dissolution.
