Sakala named Chipolopolo captain, Musonda steps down

Zambia's national soccer squad just switched up its leadership structure with Fashion Sakala taking over as the new captain while the team trains in Murcia, Spain. The coaching staff dropped Lubambo Musonda from the top spot but kept him around as first assistant captain, and they added Kings Kangwa, Frankie Musonda, and Benson Sakala to round out the leadership group.

Head coach Moses Sichone told everyone to back the changes ahead of AFCON, and Musonda handled the demotion pretty gracefully by encouraging his teammates to respect the new hierarchy. Sakala said the appointment came with massive responsibility to both the squad and the entire country, and he thanked his predecessor for setting a solid example during his time running things.
