Sand Truck Smashes Train in Kadoma Late Night Crash

A sand truck crashed into a train near Kadoma last night, causing two cars to fall off the tracks. The driver lost control of his vehicle at 11:50 PM when approaching the railroad crossing. Both the driver and passenger jumped out before their truck hit the train. Doctors treated the men at a hospital and sent them home the same night. This marks the third train accident within fourteen days across Zimbabwe.

National Railways of Zimbabwe officials blame careless driving for the latest crash. The truck driver apparently could not stop his heavy vehicle before reaching the train tracks. Railroad workers say drivers need to use more care around train crossings. Many people online criticize the railway company for poor safety measures at crossings. Citizens demand better warning systems and physical barriers to prevent future accidents.

Two other train crashes happened recently in different parts of the country. A Honda car tried to beat a train in Harare on May 21, and six people went to the hospital. Police officers also had their vehicle struck by a train in Gweru last week. Railway officials keep warning drivers never to race against trains. People want the government to build speed bumps and install working lights at all railroad crossings.
