Sandfall says Clair Obscur hit 4.4 million sold

Sandfall Interactive achieved remarkable success with Clair Obscur Expedition 33, which became 2025's top rated release on Metacritic. The indie title reached 3.3 million sales within 33 days of launch. Recent interviews with the French publication Clips du lundi revealed updated figures from the development team. Technical character artist Amandine Marest, producer Benjamin Dimanche, and senior gameplay programmer Florian Torres disclosed that sales have climbed to 4.4 million copies. The team noted that while official announcements maintain the 3.3 million figure, actual sales numbers reflect the higher total.

This performance represents exceptional achievement for an independent studio formed by former AAA developers. The game succeeded despite potential revenue challenges from Xbox Game Pass subscription availability. Sandfall Interactive plans to expand the property into a broader franchise following this initial success. The studio exemplifies the growing trend of developers leaving major companies to create their preferred gaming experiences. Their breakthrough demonstrates that independent teams can achieve significant commercial success in the competitive gaming market.
