Sanwo-Olu tells APC council candidates to work for July Lagos polls

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu warned party candidates against feeling confident about the July 12 local elections. He spoke at a meeting where he gave official flags to All Progressives Congress nominees. The governor told candidates they must campaign hard to prove the party remains strong across Lagos. He asked all party members to support their local candidates during the upcoming vote. Sanwo-Olu said President Bola Tinubu wanted him to thank everyone for protecting his political home base.

The governor told candidates to visit every neighborhood and speak directly with voters. He stressed that local races require personal contact with residents throughout communities. Sanwo-Olu reminded nominees that people want to meet those seeking their support at the ballot box. He urged candidates to demonstrate their commitment through active campaigning efforts. The governor said no candidate should assume victory without working for votes.

Party leaders resolved disputes from recent primary elections according to Sanwo-Olu. He acknowledged that competition among many candidates naturally creates some tensions within the organization. The governor asked disappointed members to respect final party choices about nominees. He emphasized that APC unity matters more than individual disagreements about candidate selection. Sanwo-Olu said the party must present a strong front during the local government elections.
