Sardar Yousaf says past leaders destroyed Pakistan's Hajj system

Pakistan's Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony delivered remarks at Darul Uloom Mansehra emphasizing that assisting Hajj pilgrims constitutes an act of worship. Sardar Muhammad Yousaf described sincere efforts toward public welfare as devotional practices during the reception event. The minister outlined extensive reforms implemented under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's administration to enhance pilgrimage experiences for Pakistani citizens. These improvements addressed significant operational deficiencies inherited from previous governmental periods. Yousaf characterized rectifying past administrative failures as a substantial undertaking for the current leadership.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has regained public confidence according to Yousaf's assessment of recent registration trends. More than 450,000 Pakistani citizens submitted applications for Hajj participation this year, representing an unprecedented level of interest. This remarkable response demonstrates renewed faith in governmental management of pilgrimage services. The substantial increase in applications reflects improved administrative capabilities and enhanced public trust. Citizens appear more willing to engage with official channels for religious travel arrangements.

Pakistani officials have formally petitioned Saudi Arabian authorities to expand the annual Hajj allocation to 230,000 pilgrims. The requested increase would align with Pakistan's population proportions and accommodate growing demand for pilgrimage opportunities. Current quota limitations prevent many qualified applicants from fulfilling their religious obligations. The proposed expansion would enable additional Pakistani Muslims to participate in the sacred journey. Government representatives continue diplomatic efforts to secure this enhanced allocation for future pilgrimage seasons.
