SDP chief Gabam rejects suspension, insists he remains chair

Social Democratic Party Chairman Shehu Gabam refuses to accept his removal from office. He told reporters Tuesday that he still leads the party despite claims from other officials. Gabam called the suspension attempt a fake plan to hurt his organization before 2027 elections. He said the people trying to remove him have no legal right to do such things. The chairman insisted no real meeting took place to vote him out.

Several party committee members visited Gabam at headquarters to show their support. He criticized a letter sent to election officials as dishonest and wrong about party conditions. Gabam claimed powerful enemies have tried to damage his leadership before and even threatened his life. He said both inside and outside forces want to take control of his political group. The chairman believes these attacks come from people who want to steal party power.

Gabam denied stealing party money and welcomed any official review of financial records. He said election commissioners have checked party accounts and outside experts have studied the books. The chairman stated that newspapers have published spending details for everyone to see. He claimed every cent spent has proper documentation and approval. Gabam asked President Tinubu to stop security forces from helping politicians attack opposition parties.
