Sello Maake KaNcube reflects on Archie Moroka’s legacy

South African actor Sello Maake KaNcube reflected on his iconic Generations role as Archie Moroka, which viewers still associate with him years after leaving the show. The character paired him with Connie Ferguson's Karabo Moroka, and he admitted he was surprised by how much fans connected with the businessman persona inspired by advertising pioneer Peter Vundla.

The veteran performer believes the storyline was groundbreaking because it showed young black professionals succeeding in corporate environments for the first time on local television. Archie became an inspirational figure that resonated with audiences across the country.

Maake KaNcube recently received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the National Film and Television Awards, which brought back memories of watching his first play as a kid back in 1975. He is set to appear at the iPendoring Awards, where he might revisit the beloved character that defined his career.
