Sequential updates Take 5 with Poly Chain and new arpeggiator modes

Sequential has rolled out a free firmware update for the Take 5 synthesizer, introducing a Poly Chain function that links two units into a single 10-voice instrument with mirrored front-panel controls. Developed in response to user demand, the feature enables richer chords and more expansive arrangements.

The update also enhances the built-in arpeggiator with 10 new modes, including Spiral and Leapfrog, which use virtual playheads to generate complex melodic patterns. A new Whiplash timing mode maintains consistent arpeggio cycle lengths by dynamically spacing notes, adding rhythmic tension while preserving bar structure. Additionally, violet noise has been added, emphasizing high frequencies for shimmering pads or sharp percussive sounds.

David Gibbons, CEO of Sequential, noted that the update expands polyphony while introducing creative new tools. The firmware is available now on Sequential’s website.
