SESAC taps Chris Sheehan to lead international moves

SESAC just tapped a UK music lifer to lead its international operations. The performing rights organization appointed Chris Sheehan as Vice President for its international division. He brings over twenty-five years of experience across management, publishing, and recorded music to the role.

Sheehan previously collaborated with SESAC through Karousel Music, a London-based firm he co-founded. Their partnership included multiple live showcase initiatives supporting emerging performers. One series provided hundreds of performance slots where artists kept all their earnings.

He also curated an affiliated event at a major German festival. In his new position, Sheehan will build upon the foundation established by his predecessor, John Sweeney. Sweeney supported numerous UK artists during his lengthy tenure representing SESAC.

SESAC Chief Creative Officer Sam Kling expressed confidence in the appointment. He noted Sheehan's trusted partnership and friendship with Sweeney, expecting he would honor that legacy while supporting affiliates globally.

Beyond Karousel, Sheehan manages songwriter Ruby Duff and participates in industry networking events. His earlier career involved work with a musicians' charity and a tenure on its advisory board. Sheehan also served on the board of an international artists' rights association.

His background includes time as a recording artist and songwriter before moving into executive roles. He later founded a studio, working there as an engineer and producer for many years.
