Seven Robbers Caught After Harare Heist

Police in Harare quickly caught seven men who robbed a company early Monday morning. The men stole a Nissan truck, a safe with $12,000 inside, a security camera recorder, a laptop, and other items.

The robbery happened around 2:20 am at a business in the Southerton area. But by the afternoon, a special police team had already found and arrested all the suspects.

First, the police learned that the men had taken the stolen truck to a house in Mufakose and left it at the corner of Robert Mugabe Road and Julius Nyerere Street downtown.

The police went to the house in Mufakose and caught one of the robbers, Tapiwanashe Bakasa. They also found the safe and the camera recorder.

Bakasa told them about another suspect, Rodgers Magreen. Police then arrested Magreen in nearby Stoneridge. They got back $1,565 and the stolen laptop.

Magreen led them to Tinashe Thompson, who they caught at a local shopping center. Thompson had a gun, pepper spray, a knife, and $800 on him. He had also bought a motorcycle with the stolen money.

Later that same day, four more suspects were arrested in the Mbare neighborhood. Their names are Tatenda Mashayamombe, Peter Mahwite, Anymore Gatsi, and Wilson Masvosve.

The national police spokesperson said they are working hard to stop armed robberies. He was glad his team could catch these criminals so quickly.
