Shubman Gill Smashes Record-Breaking Double Century as India Dominate England at Edgbaston

Shubman Gill smashed cricket records at Edgbaston as India crushed England. The young captain hammered 269 runs and broke every major batting record for Indian skippers. His monster knock helped India pile up 587 runs before England crumbled under pressure. Fast bowler Akash Deep destroyed England with two wickets from back-to-back balls. England finished the day at 77 for three wickets and trail India by a massive 510 runs.

Gill beat batting legends Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar with his epic performance. His 269 runs topped Kohli's previous captain record of 254 against South Africa. The knock also smashed Tendulkar's overseas record and Sunil Gavaskar's England record from 1979. Gill faced 387 balls and smacked 30 boundaries during his marathon eight-hour stay at the crease. He finally fell when Josh Tongue caught him pulling a tired shot to square leg.

England bowlers suffered as Gill found partners who helped him build huge partnerships. Ravindra Jadeja scored 89 runs and added 203 runs with his captain for the sixth wicket. Washington Sundar contributed 42 runs as the pair put on 144 more runs together. England dropped catches at the first Test but India held theirs perfectly at Edgbaston. Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope both fell to brilliant catches as Deep ripped through England's top order.
