Sibu trader bleeds RM135k in AAPL WhatsApp scam, Zulkipli Suhaili

A businessman fell victim to fraudulent investment promises after losing RM135,000 through digital channels. ACP Zulkipli Suhaili from Sibu district police confirmed the incident involved a male victim aged between 40 and 50 years. The scammer contacted him via WhatsApp on June 18, presenting herself as a Kuala Lumpur resident with access to AAPL investment opportunities. She guaranteed returns of RM4.20 per unit and potential earnings reaching RM42,000 after initial deposits.

The perpetrator instructed the businessman to install a mobile application and participate in group conversations that displayed fabricated profit statements. Between September 4 and 9, he completed eighteen separate transactions totaling RM135,000 to a domestic banking account. The promised returns never materialized, prompting additional investment demands from the suspect. Police received his formal complaint on September 13 and launched an investigation under Penal Code Section 420 addressing fraudulent activities.
