Simmons blames butter fingers for Dhaka heartbreak

Bangladesh coach Phil Simmons attributed his team's narrow 11-run defeat against Pakistan to missing their captain and fielding errors during the Asia Cup Super Six match Thursday. Litton Kumar Das remained sidelined with a practice injury despite averaging strong performances in recent T20I matches with 273 runs across five innings. Simmons criticized his batsmen for making poor decisions during middle overs compared to their successful 169-run chase against Sri Lanka earlier.

The coach defended his tactical decision to promote Mahedi Hasan up the batting order as a strategy against Pakistan's fast bowlers. Three fielders failed to complete catches that allowed Pakistan's tail-end batsmen to shift momentum back toward their team. Simmons praised opener Saif Hasan's tournament contributions and highlighted consistent bowling performances throughout the competition despite the elimination.
