Six testify in cases against Sheikh Hasina, family

Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 recorded testimony from six witnesses on Sunday in three corruption cases involving 53 accused individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana. The cases allege irregular plot allocations within RAJUK's Purbachal New Town Project. Judge Robiul Alam adjourned proceedings until November 9, bringing the total witnesses to eleven across these three cases. The Anti-Corruption Commission filed six related cases in January, submitting charge sheets on March 10. Courts issued official summons for 100 defendants on July 1, formally framed charges on July 31, and released arrest warrants for those evading trial.

The same court simultaneously ordered ex-RAJUK member Mohammad Khurshid Alam listed as arrested in these proceedings following an Anti-Corruption Commission petition. Alam surrendered on October 29 in three identical cases before another Dhaka tribunal. Prosecutor Md Tarikul Islam confirmed his court presentation. Additional defendants include Hasina's children, Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed Putul, Rehana's son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Boby, and her daughters Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq Ruponti. Multiple government and RAJUK officials also stand charged.
