Sixteen shops gutted in Konabari kitchen market fire in Gazipur

Fire crews battled flames that ate through sixteen shops at a kitchen market Monday morning. The blaze started around half past five at the Konabari market located across Gazipur. Shopkeepers watched their businesses burn as the fire jumped from one store to another. Station Officer Saiful Islam from Konabari Fire Station said the flames moved fast through the crowded market area. Nobody expected such destruction when the day began.

Four fire trucks raced to the scene after emergency calls flooded the station. Firefighters worked hard for two and a half hours before they stopped the dangerous flames. The brave crews saved millions of taka worth of merchandise from total destruction. They rescued goods valued at five crore taka from the burning buildings. The fire could have been much worse without their quick response.

Officials think bad electrical wiring started the deadly fire that morning. Short circuits cause many market fires across Bangladesh each year. The total damage amounts to twenty-five lakh taka according to early reports. Fire service teams will dig deeper to find out exactly what happened. Market vendors must rebuild their lives after losing everything to the flames.
