St Petersburg Drunks Beat Cops During ID Check

Three drunk men attacked police officers during a traffic stop on May 28. Officers pulled over a Renault Logan on Ivanovskaya Street for a document check. The driver had no papers and was drunk behind the wheel. His two passengers were also intoxicated. Police started writing violation tickets when all three men jumped the officers.

Police caught the driver right away but the other two ran off. Officers impounded the car and wrote several tickets against the driver. The next day police found the two friends who had escaped. They brought both men to the police station for questioning.

St. Petersburg and Leningrad region police are doing widespread drunk driving checks right after this incident. The Main Directorate press service reported all the details about the attack. All three men face charges for attacking law enforcement. The driver faces additional charges for drunk driving without proper documents. Police continue their campaign to catch impaired drivers across the region.
