St Petersburg Metro Calls Off Ozerki Shutdown

St. Petersburg officials pushed back repairs for the Ozerki metro station on the Moscow-Petrogradskaya line. Mayor Alexander Beglov shared this news during the Petersburg Novy Vzglyad program. He said the station can safely operate longer than they first thought.

The city had planned to shut down Ozerki this year, but changed course after meetings with transit experts. Workers are currently upgrading several other stations across the metro system. Frunzenskaya closed June 1, 2024, and will stay shut until spring 2027. Park Pobedy station renovations will start in June 2025.

The decision helps riders who depend on Ozerki for daily travel. Many locals expressed relief at keeping their regular routes open through this year. Transit officials will create a new timeline for the Ozerki work next year.
