Workers are putting final touches on the Yugo-Zapadnaya metro station. The new stop sits on the Krasnoselsko-Kalininskaya line. City officials expect the station to open later this year. The route will connect Yugo-Zapadnaya to Putilovskaya station. Construction crews have already finished major parts of the project.
The station features escalators and a glass dome over the main area. Workers started putting glass panels on the dome frame last fall. They wrapped up this work early December. St. Petersburg leaders say all construction stages are running on time. Governor Alexander Beglov shared photos showing the progress.
Station designers recently adjusted one of the metro logos on the entrance building. Three logos will point toward different streets and roads nearby. One logo faces the crossing of Marshal Zhukov Avenue and Marshal Kazakov Street. Another points west down Marshal Kazakov Street. The third logo looks toward Marshal Zhukov Avenue and Leninsky Avenue.
Construction teams are laying granite blocks for the entrance steps. These workers are building the staircase right next to the main lobby area. City planners had to push back the landscaping schedule around the station entrance. The outdoor work will finish between July and August 2025 instead of the original timeline.
