St Petersburg Shivers as Cyclone Crashes May Last Day

Saturday brings cold rain to St. Petersburg as May ends. Storm clouds will dump water across the city during the day. Thunder might crack overhead in some neighborhoods around town. Weather experts say a large storm system pushes through the region. Wind gusts from the west will shake trees and rattle windows.

The back edge of the cyclone hits the northern capital hard. Phobos weather center specialists track the storm as it moves east. Rain falls for short periods before stopping and starting again. Some areas face thunderstorms that light up the dark sky. Emergency officials warn people to stay inside during the worst weather.

Temperatures stay cool throughout the day across the metro area. The city sees readings between 17 and 19 degrees on thermometers. Outer regions expect numbers from 16 to 21 degrees during Saturday. Air pressure climbs a bit from morning levels. The pressure stays below normal at 756 millimeters despite the small increase.

Sunday marks the first day of summer with better conditions. Heavy rain stops falling as the storm system moves away. Cool air remains over the region for another day. People can expect dry skies and calmer winds. The chilly weather continues even as June begins.
