Sulemana Heads to Italy in €17.5m Gamble

Kamaldeen Sulemana switched teams from Southampton to Atalanta after a tough spell at the English club. The 23-year-old winger signed a four-year contract with the Italian side for 17.5 million euros. Atalanta could pay another 4 million euros if certain conditions are met during his time there. The Ghana star will work under Ivan Jurić again after their previous partnership at Southampton. This reunion gives Sulemana a fresh chance to prove his abilities at a new club.

The speedy winger struggled during his final season with Southampton and scored just one goal across 26 matches. His overall record with the Saints shows five goals and two assists from 34 total games since joining from French club Stade Rennais. Sulemana arrived at Southampton during January 2023 but never found consistent form at the Championship level. The move to Serie A offers him better opportunities to showcase his pace and technical skills. He has earned 44 caps for his country and remains an important player for Ghana.

Atalanta supporters will see Sulemana team up with Ibrahim Sulemana again after their national team partnership. The club expects both players to bring energy and creativity to their attacking setup next season. Sulemana hopes this transfer will revive his career after disappointing performances at Southampton. The Italian league suits his playing style better than the physical demands of English football. Atalanta believe they can unlock his potential and help him return to his best form.
