Sumit clinches silver as India rebounds at Polyak Imre and Varga Janos Memorial

India achieved a remarkable turnaround at the Polyak Imre and Varga Janos Memorial tournament during the final day of competition. The Greco-Roman wrestling team secured two medals after earlier struggles prevented any wrestlers from reaching medal rounds. Sumit claimed silver in the 60kg division after defeating opponents from multiple nations before losing to Azerbaijan's Nihat Zahid Mammadli in the championship match. The Under-23 Asian Champion demonstrated strong technique throughout preliminary rounds.

Anil Mor earned bronze in the 55kg category through repechage competition. He defeated Moldova's Atrium Deleanu without conceding points before outperforming Uzbekistan's Ikhtiyor Botirov for the bronze medal. Mor previously won silver at the Yasar Dogu International Tournament earlier this year. Indian women wrestlers dominated the overall medal standings ahead of the United States and Hungary. Wrestling experts forecast that Indian women will capture three to four medals at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games based on recent international performances.
