SV Darmstadt Signs Patric Pfeiffer from FC Augsburg on Permanent Deal

SV Darmstadt completed the signing of defender Patric Pfeiffer from FC Augsburg during the current transfer window. The 25-year-old German-born player agreed to a permanent move that keeps him at the second division club through 2029. Pfeiffer successfully passed his medical examination before finalizing the contract. FC Augsburg will receive approximately 700,000 euros with performance bonuses as part of the transfer agreement. The move marks a return to familiar surroundings for the defender.

Pfeiffer previously played 80 matches for Darmstadt between 2019 and 2023 before his departure to Augsburg. His time at Augsburg proved limited with just 11 competitive appearances for the first team. The defender spent portions of his Augsburg contract on loan at BSC Young Boys and 1.FC Magdeburg to gain playing time. These temporary moves helped him maintain match fitness and develop his skills further. His return to Darmstadt represents a chance for regular first-team football.

The defender represented Germany at various youth levels before making a significant career decision. Pfeiffer switched his international allegiance to Ghana during June 2022. This change opened new opportunities for him to compete at senior international level. The defender can represent Ghana in future World Cup qualifiers and Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. His dual heritage allowed him to make this nationality switch under FIFA regulations.
