Swartbooi Says LPM Will Keep Southern Turf

Landless People Movement chief Bernadus Swartbooi believes his party will keep control of two southern Namibian regions during November voting. The political group switched attention toward regional and local elections instead of participating at June contests. Swartbooi promised to back other opposition candidates running during the June ballot. He spoke at Keetmanshoop and said residents from both areas support LMP over the current government. The party leader expects opponents will fail to remove LMP from power across their territory.

Swartbooi called free education for everyone an impossible goal that government cannot afford. He pointed out officials already struggle with water problems and depend on foreign money for projects. The politician noted education receives 24 billion dollars compared to just 12 billion for development spending. Swartbooi questioned how leaders expect to create jobs when school funding doubles infrastructure investment. He blamed government for failing citizens again through poor budget choices.

The party boss admitted local councils face serious management problems with chief executives and administrators. Karasburg officials got arrested for breaking laws about appointment processes and signature changes. Swartbooi promised these troubles will end through new strategies targeting problem councils. LMP plans to share a detailed report about their five years running regional governments. The document will cover successes and failures alongside future plans for voters.
