Switch 2 Set to Crush Records with 20M Units

Nintendo plans to ship over 20 million Switch 2 consoles through March 2026. The company can make more if buyers want them, according to people familiar with their plans. Samsung makes the main computer chip for the new game system with their 8nm factory process. Hardware builders like Foxconn might limit how many units reach stores because of assembly capacity limits. Samsung hopes Nintendo will use their OLED screens in future versions of the console.

The Switch 2 arrives in just two weeks with specs matching earlier leaks. Game makers must work around certain system limits, such as restricted CPU cores and memory space. The new GameChat feature requires substantial processing power to run properly. Nintendo created test tools for developers who need to check games without active chat sessions. The display refresh rate feature called VRR works only when playing in handheld mode. Most countries worldwide will see the Switch 2 launch on June 5, except China and Central America.
