Business associates of President Emmerson Mnangagwa gathered at Kudakwashe Tagwirei's Newlands offices on Tuesday for emergency discussions. The group decided to petition for Owen Ncube's return as State Security Minister following allegations of corruption against the party leadership by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. Chiwenga had demanded arrests over financial misconduct related to Sakunda Holdings, where Tagwirei holds majority ownership while ZANU-PF maintains a minority stake. Sources indicate the meeting aimed to counter perceived threats from the Vice President.
The proposed cabinet changes target ministers viewed as sympathetic to Chiwenga's anti-corruption stance. Energy Minister July Moyo, Youth Minister Tino Machakaire, and Sports Minister Anselem Sanyatwe face removal under the restructuring plan. Tagwirei would assume Moyo's portfolio while Themba Mliswa replaces Sanyatwe. Christopher Mutsvangwa would succeed Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri as party chairperson under these arrangements.
